Brandon Gien
Brandon studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Bachelor of Industrial Design and a PhD in Environmental Design from the School of Design and Architecture at the University of Canberra. Founder and Chairman of Good Design Australia and Executive Director of the Australian Design Council. It has been defending the value of good design to improve our social, economic, cultural and environmental quality of life for 25 years. Currently adjunct professor of industrial design at the University of Canberra and the University of New South Wales. He is a senator of the World Design Organization (WDO), after serving as chairman (2013-2015), the first Australian to hold this position. During his tenure, he led the strategic transformation of the organization, resulting in a new name, vision and mission aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to founding Good Design Australia, Brandon was executive director of design strategy at Standards Australia, which is recognized by the Australian government as the country's leading standards body and is a member of the Design Institute of Australia.
