You’re a designer who solves social problems, that’s what we’re educated to do. Inventing something that serves only one social class or to satisfy the needs of just a small group doesn’t make much sense. Tell me who has thought of solving the problems of daily tianguis, where you see that people arm and disarm their reality. Couldn’t design be the one that facilitates that function to be cleaner, more orderly and with less effort? Of course it could.
If the Mexican designer applied all that sensitivity to solve problems, we would be thinking of a country with a better quality of life.
That’s what design is all about. Whether it’s beautiful or not, whether it’s more like German or French I don’t care, its function is what you have to take care of.
