CATEGORY A
CULTURAL POSTER


CONVENED BY:


1. Graphic designers, design students, visual artists, photographers and graphic creators in general are allowed to participate, no matter age or nationality. They can submit posters on any subject. The posters must have been printed between, May 2016 and May 2018

2. Participants should submit a maximum of 4 posters or series of posters, of maximum 3 units, considered as one piece.

3. Layout and technique are freestyle.


DIGITAL WORK REGISTRATION

4. In order to register their work, participants shall submit their poster(s) in a digital layout HERE by following the registration form properly filled in.

5. Files registered in the contest should be formatted as:

Measure: 1000 px required in its longest side, no matter the position of the piece (horizotal or vertical).

Resolution: 72 DPI

Color: RGB

Type of format: JPG

ONLY PRESELECTED AUTHORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SEND OUT THEIR WORKS IN HIGH RESOLUTION.


PRINTED WORK SUBMISSION

6. It is compulsory for participants to send two printed copies of every poster that will contest. It is up to every author to donate additional copies to be sold at the auction in our website as contribution to the BICM’s financial aid.

7. A properly filled-in copy of the entry form must also be attached with masking tape (not with glue) to all the printed posters. This can be put on the bottom right corner on the back of the poster. Download the entry form here

8. Posters must be sent, without commercial value, as it follows:

9. Due to the presentation quality care, damaged posters will not be accepted. It is suggested to take care of their packaging.


PRINTED WORK SUBMISSION DEADLINE CATEGORY A JULY 17, 2018 (POSTMARKED)


10. The BICM is authorized to publish the entered-into-the-competition posters in catalogues, expositions, promotional editions, electronic means and promotional events on a non-profit basis and giving credit to the authors.

11. Every chosen participant will obtain a 30% discount on our online store to acquire catalogues, poster, and commemorative editions.

12. All posters will be part of the BICM archive.

13. The BICM shall reserve the right to reject the participation of posters that may be offensive to the moral and culture of any country, as well as the ones that shall not meet the requirements of this call.

14. Posters designed by jury members as well as committee members can be chosen but may not be awarded.

15. The jury decision will be irrevocable and it shall not be contested or submitted to any sort of refute by any natural or legal person.


PUBLICATION OF SELECTED PARTICIPANTS JULY 17, 2018


16. The results of the 15 IPBM selection will be published on our website and social networks.


AWARDS FOR CATEGORY A

First place Ernesto El chango Cabral: $100,000.00 (One hundred thousand Mexican pesos), a golden medal and a certificate.Economic prize granted by the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature.

Second place: Silver medal and a certificate.

Third place: Bronze medal and a certificate.

17. The awards of any category can be declared null and void if it is so considered. Additionally, the judges are qualified to resolve any incidence that may take place and may not contravene these bases.

SPECIAL MEDALS OF 15BICM
A. International jury will award the Gold medal for excellence “José Guadalupe Posada” to a participating designer or country known for its contribution to the development of graphic design in Mexico.

B. International jury will give the Gold medal for sustainability in the production of paper "Carlos Lozano” to the most prominent young Mexican designer in 15 International Poster Biennial in Mexico.


REGISTRATION FEES
The registration fee is voluntary. We appreciate your support for this project.

STUDENTS
$1 USD for every registered poster.

PROFESSIONALS
$5 USD for every registered poster.

Once the deposit has been made, the participant must send a copy of the payment voucher to cuotas15bicm@gmail.com with the subject "CUOTA/FEE _PARTICIPANTNAME". The body of the mail must indicate the full name of the participant, category in which participates and number of posters inscribed.


DONATIONS

This open space brings the opportunity to continue to be our supportive fellow in this collaborative project that moves us on behalf of the culture of design. Please be assured that your contribution will boost the culture of design as a key part of our everyday lives.You can submit your donation through Paypal.



Design books and money donations are accepted. These works will become part of the International Biennial Library in Mexico. The author of the poster shall send a book whose subject will be about design, no matter the number of works they will present in the competition. Books to be donated shall be sent, without commercial value, as it follows:

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS IN THIS COMPETION

A. All submitted posters will be part of the International Poster Biennial in Mexico archive as well as the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi’s.
